## Curry named vice chair of federal health task force

APHA member Susan Curry, PhD, in March was named vice chair of the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force. Curry serves as the dean and distinguished professor of health management and policy at the University of Iowa’s College of Public Health. From January 2009 through December 2014, Curry also served as a task force member.

## Delnevo name interim dean at New Jersey public health school

APHA member Cristine Delnevo, PhD, MPH, in March was named interim dean of the Rutgers School of Public Health. Delnevo is the director of the Center for Tobacco Studies at the university, as well as chair and professor of the school’s Department of Health Education and Behavioral Science.

## Califf confirmed as new FDA commissioner

Robert Califf, MD, MACC, is the new commissioner of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration following a U.S. Senate confirmation in February. Califf previously served as FDA’s deputy commissioner for medical products and tobacco and as vice chancellor for clinical and translational research and professor of medicine at Duke University.

## Dishman named director of precision medicine program

Eric Dishman, PhD, in April was named director of the Precision Medicine Initiative’s Cohort Program. Dishman previously served in the Precision Medicine Initiative Working Group and as vice president and Intel fellow of Intel Corporation’s Health and Life Sciences Group.

## Kade named director of SAMHSA center

Daryl Kade, MA, in April began her role as director of the Center for Behavioral Health Statistics and Quality at the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration. Kade previously served as the center’s acting director, as well as acting director of SAMHSA’s Center for Substance Abuse Treatment. She also served as director of SAMHSA’s Office of Financial Resources.

## Schulte named Kentucky city’s new health director

Joann Schulte, DO, MPH, in March was named director of the Louisville Metro Department of Public Health and Wellness in Louisville, Kentucky. Previously, Schulte was a medical toxicology fellow at Parkland Memorial Hospital’s North Texas Poison Control Center in Dallas. Schulte also worked as a medical epidemiologist for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the National Institutes of Health.

## Shelton named president of North Carolina pharmacy group

Penny Shelton, PharmD, CGP, FASCP, in April became executive director of the North Carolina Association of Pharmacists. Shelton is a professor and associate dean for academic affairs at Shenandoah University’s Bernard J. Dunn School of Pharmacy.

## Sinnott receives national physical therapy award

Mary Sinnott, PT, DPT, MEd, in June received the American Physical Therapy Association’s Lucy Blair Service Award during its Next 2016 conference in Nashville, Tennessee. Sinnott is the director of the doctor of physical therapy program within Temple University’s College of Public Health.

## Williams-Bishop named director of two Kellogg Foundation programs

Rhea Williams-Bishop, PhD, MPPA, in May became the new director of W.K. Kellogg Foundation’s Mississippi and New Orleans programs. Williams-Bishop previously served as the director of the Center for Education Innovation in Jackson, Mississippi, and in multiple positions within the Children’s Defense Fund.
