Public health professionals who hope to share their work at the year’s premier public health gathering should circle Jan. 2 on their calendars: Abstract submissions for APHA’s 2023 Annual Meeting and Expo open on the second day of the year.
To be held Nov. 12-15 in Atlanta, APHA 2023 will focus on “Creating the Healthiest Nation: Overcoming Social and Ethical Challenges.” Presenters are encouraged to share information related to the theme, but other subjects are accepted as well.
“The role social determinants play in determining our health and the importance of ethics have been in the forefront in recent years,” Donna Wright, APHA’s senior manager of event education and programs, told The Nation’s Health. “We look forward to connecting, collaborating and sharing public health science on these engaging topics.”
Program planners from APHA’s Sections, Special Primary Interest Groups, Student Assembly, Forums and Caucuses will select the presentations for the meeting’s scientific sessions. Thousands of abstracts are submitted for each Annual Meeting.
The abstract submission deadline is March 31. Submissions, which are welcome for both oral and poster sessions, are limited to 250 words and learning objectives are required. Anyone can submit an abstract, but presenters must become APHA members and register for the meeting if their abstracts are accepted. Abstracts are submitted through an online form. Presenters will be notified by email in June whether their abstract has been accepted.
