## COVID-19 vaccines

Seattle health and education leaders published a new guide on COVID-19 vaccines for kids in May. The “Handbook for Health Heroes” is presented in comic book-style guide to help answer questions from families about the vaccines. ## Health policy

In May, Amplify Publishing published “The Health Care Labyrinth: A Guide to Navigating Health Plans and Fixing American Health Insurance,” by Marc Ryan, a health care software technology executive. ## Future pandemics

Penguin Random House published “How to Prevent the Next Pandemic,” by Bill Gates in May. The Microsoft founder and philanthropist outlines a plan for preventing future pandemics through collaboration with public health experts. Gates draws from his charitable work to prevent diseases and improve health access in low-income nations. ## Opioid settlement funds

Following legal settlements against opioid manufacturers, the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health has released a set of strategies for spending settlement funds. The resources provide local and state governments with evidence-based guidance that can help communities combat the opioid crisis. ## Parenting

MIT Press published “The Parent Trap: How to Stop Overloading Parents and Fix Our Inequality Crisis,” by Nate Hilger, PhD, an economist and data scientist, in April. ## World inequality

In July, Harvard Press published “World Inequality Report 2022” edited by Lucas Chancel, PhD and written by Thomas Piketty, PhD, MSc, Emmanuel Saez, MD, PhD, and Gabriel Zucman, PhD, MSc. ## Systems and power

## Environmental news

In May, the Environmental Working Group launched a nonprofit environmental journalism initiative, The New Lede.
