As president of the University of Maryland-Baltimore County, Hrabowski has published three books, won numerous leadership awards and co-founded the Meyerhoff Scholars Program, which supports the growth of minority students pursuing higher degrees in fields such as medicine. He will keynote the opening session of APHA’s 143rd Annual Meeting and Exposition on Sunday, Nov. 1, in Chicago. Hrabowski talked with The Nation’s Health about the importance of increasing minority participation in science-related fields and the consequences of inaction. ER -
