Tucked in with their agendas, abstracts and luncheon tickets was the first issue of The Nation’s Health newspaper, created as a test pilot.On the back of the 16-page issue — which shared news on congressional legislation, public health funding and more — was a survey designed to gauge interest in a regular newspaper from APHA. Readers responded positively, and The Nation’s Health made its debut as a stand-alone APHA member benefit in January 1971.The newspaper has been consistently published by the Association ever since, serving as a leading source for public health news.
