EPA’s review under the Trump administration maintained ground-level ozone standards. EPA kept the 2015 ozone standard of 70 parts per billion, which is too high based on numerous scientific studies, the petition said.The Clean Air Act requires EPA to set air quality standards that protect public health with an “adequate margin of safety,” including protections for those most at risk, such as children, older adults and people with respiratory problems.APHA and its partners urged EPA to convene a proceeding to strengthen the standards to no higher than 60 parts per billion.Multiple mass shootings have occurred so far this year in America, showing once again that gun violence is an ongoing problem and that action is needed.
