APHA Student Assembly gears up for seventh annual national meeting ================================================================== * Teddi Dineley Johnson From networking opportunities to resume-writing workshops to panel discussions, the Student Assembly’s National Student Meeting will again provide a half-day professional development program at APHA’s Annual Meeting. With the catchy theme, “7even Days Without Wellness Make One Weak,” the seventh annual National Student Meeting kicks off at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 29, at APHA’s 139th Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C. More than 100 students are expected to attend the half-day event, which offers opportunities to meet public health students from across the country, gain exclusive access to professional development information and visit with public health job recruiters. A speed mentoring event will coincide with the National Student Meeting. Organized and sponsored by APHA’s Student Assembly, the sessions promote short, interactive conversations between students and experienced public health professionals. Students need not register for APHA’s Annual Meeting to attend the free National Student Meeting, said APHA member Charles R. Rogers, MSAS, 2011 meeting director. The meeting will also feature a professional development session, during which students will learn to write resumes that will open doors to public health jobs.
