Resources: October 2013 ======================= * Natalie McGill ## Smoking cessation The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center’s Tobacco Outreach Education Program in June launched the Tobacco-Free Teens App. The free app, which is compatible with the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch, contains a series of games that reinforce the negative effects of tobacco use. For more information, visit [www.omnigraphics.com](http://www.omnigraphics.com). ## Maternal health The Johns Hopkins University Press in November is expected to publish “The PKU Paradox: A Short History of a Genetic Disease.” Authored by Jeffrey Brosco, MD, and Diane Paul, PhD, the book addresses the history of neonatal screening for phenylketonuria, or PKU, a genetic disorder that physicians traditionally test for after pricking the heel of a newborn for a blood sample. The tool, which is available on the EPA’s website, allows the user to type in a U.S. location and calculate how much stormwater is collected annually from runoff in that area. The calculator is a part of the Stormwater Calculator and Climate Assessment Tool package in President Barack Obama’s Climate Action Plan.
