Alvey named director
Stephanie Alvey, MBA, was named director of the Waco-McLennan County Public Health District in Texas in February. Alvey had served as the county's interim public health director since December 2024.
Davis named CEO
Eileen Davis was named CEO of Mass211 in January. Davis previously served as vice president of the Massachusetts call center, which connects residents to health, human services and emergency information.
Duber named health officer
Herbie Duber, MD, MPH, was named health officer of the Kitsap Public Health District in Washington in February. Duber, a professor of emergency medicine at the University of Washington, had served as interim health officer since September.
Galper elected board member
Michael Galper, MPH, was elected to the UniHealth Foundation Board of Directors in December. Galper, an adjunct professor at the University of California-Los Angeles Fielding School of Public Health, is a former partner of PWC's Health Care Consulting Practice.
Greene appointed senior vice president
Todd Greene was appointed senior vice president for institutional relations at the Morehouse School of Medicine in January. Greene brings more than two decades of leadership experience to his new role, previously serving as vice president of the Work, Education and Labor Division at the Urban Institute and executive director of WorkRise.
Hamad appointed director
Rita Hamad, MD, PhD, was appointed director of the Harvard Center for Population and Development Studies in January. Hamad, a professor in the Department of Social and Behavioral Sciences at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, is also director of the school's Social Policies for Health Equity Research Center.
Jackson named chief officer
Tonya Jackson, MBA, was named chief health and human services officer for New Hanover County in North Carolina in February. Jackson, who has more than 25 years of experiences in health and human serives, previously served as the county's social services director.
Jetelina, Rivera recognized
STAT named nine influencers shaping health information online in January. Among them were Katelyn Jetelina, PhD, MPH, spearhead of the newsletter “Your Local Epidemiologist,” and a professor at the Yale School of Public Health; and Jessica Malaty Rivera, MS, senior science communication advisor for the de Beaumont Foundation.
Kleinstreuer appointed deputy director
Nicole Kleinstreuer, PhD, was appointed deputy director for program coordination, planning and strategic initiatives at the National Institutes of Health in January. Kleinstreuer, associate editor of Frontiers in Predictive Toxicity, previously served as acting deputy director.
Martin appointed commissioner
Alister Martin, MD, MPP, was appointed commissioner of the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene in January. Martin, CEO of a Healthier Democracy, has served as an emergency room physician at Mass General Hospital and assistant professor at Harvard Medical School.
Mermin named dean, vice president
Jonathan Mermin, MD, MPH, was appointed dean of the Mailman School of Public Health and senior vice president of Irving Medical Center at Columbia University in January. Mermin previously served as director of the National Center for HIV, Viral Hepatitis, STD and Tuberculosis Prevention at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Rudisill awarded
Caroline Rudisill, PhD, MSc, received the 2025 Academic Partner Research Award from Prisma Health in January. Rudisill is a professor in the Department of Health Promotion and Behavior at the University of South Carolina Arnold School of Public Health. She was recognized for her research work and support.
Shea named director
Lindsay Shea, DrPH, MS, was named director of the Center for State Health Policy at Rutgers Institute for Health, Health Care Policy and Aging Research in February. Shea, a nationally recognized expert on Medicaid policy, is slated to begin her new role in July.
Turner named interim dean
Nannette Turner, PhD, MPH, was named interim dean of the College of Health Professions at Mercer University in January. Turner has served the university since 2007, most recently as executive associate dean of the College of Health Professions.
Zielinski named director
Cara Zielinski, MEd, was named director of development at Greater Seacoast Community Health in New Hampshire in February. Previously, Zielinski served as director of development for North Shore Community Action Programs.
