TY - JOUR T1 - Q&A with Planned Parenthood’s Cecile Richards: Celebrating 100 years of reproductive health care: Equity, access important to health, says Annual Meeting keynoter JF - The Nation's Health JO - Nations Health SP - 9 LP - 9 VL - 46 IS - 7 AU - Lindsey Wahowiak Y1 - 2016/09/01 UR - http://www.thenationshealth.org/content/46/7/9.abstract N2 - Cecile Richards has been having an exciting year. Richards, the president of Planned Parenthood Federation of America and the Planned Parenthood Action Fund, celebrated the organization’s 100th anniversary of providing reproductive health care for people regardless of income. And she celebrated victory when on June 27 the Supreme Court ruled in favor of the plaintiffs in Whole Woman’s Health v. Hellerstedt, throwing out Texas regulations that made access to abortion nearly impossible for millions of people. But she has also been battling continued efforts to defund Planned Parenthood at the state and federal levels. As she gears up for APHA’s 2016 Annual Meeting and Expo, where she will be the Oct. 30 plenary keynote speaker, Richards said there is much for public health advocates to be proud of — and more work still to be done.
