The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency in February launched its Drinking Water Mapping Application to Protect Source Waters. Women’s health

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services’ Office of Minority Health in March launched its Mapping Medicare Disparities online tool. The tool allows users to assess health disparities in specific geographic areas based on factors such as racial and ethnic populations, prevalence of chronic diseases and eligibility for Medicare and Medicaid. The Achieving a Better Life Experience National Resource Center in March launched www.ablenrc.org. The website is a resource that features webinars and presentations on the Achieving a Better Life Experience Act of 2014, which allows families of people with disabilities to create tax-deferred savings accounts for care-related expenses. The site features information on act-related programs across the U.S., policy summaries, research and more.
Nutrition
The Interagency Committee on Human Nutrition Research in March released the 2016-2021 National Nutrition Research Roadmap. The roadmap outlines 120 short- and long-term strategies to improve U.S. nutrition across 11 areas. The roadmap focus on topics such as research gaps in health disparities and nutrition-related chronic diseases. The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services in March published “The Skilled Nursing Facility Utilization and Payment Public Use File.” The data set contains information on over 15,000 skilled nursing facilities, submitted charges and payments in 2013 and is organized by provider, state, and resource utilization group. The National Institute on Drug Abuse in March released “Principles of Substance Abuse Prevention for Early Childhood: A Research-Based Guide.” The online guide looks at the potential precursors of future substance abuse, such as uncontrolled aggression and life transitions where kids are at their most vulnerable, such as starting school.
