The National Institutes of Health’s NIHSeniorHealth in December added an anxiety disorder information page to its health and wellness website. Online at http://nihseniorhealth.gov/anxietydisorders/toc.html, the resource includes descriptions of anxiety disorders, risk factors, symptoms and treatments.
Tooth decay prevention guides
The National Maternal and Child Oral Health Resources Center in September released “Dental Sealants: A Resource Guide, Third Edition” and “Preventing Tooth Decay and Saving Teeth with Dental Sealants.” The free resources focus on the use of dental sealants to prevent tooth decay and are available at http://www.mchoralhealth.org/PDFs/DentalSealantguide.pdf and http://www.mchoralhealth.org/pdfs/OHDentSealantFactsheeet.pdf.
Health care quality and safety website
The Joint Commission in November launched an improved website. Online at www.jointcommission.org, the site enhances accessibility to health information for health organizations, professionals, businesses and agencies and features new multimedia tools such as podcasts, videos and blogs.
Strategies for caregivers
Viki Kind in July published “The Caregiver’s Path to Compassionate Decision Making.” The book provides a step-by-step tool to help caretakers resolve ethical dilemmas, including making choices for people with diminished capacity. Health insurance and medical services guide
Health Advocate in August announced the release of “The Healthcare Survival Guide.” Written by Martin Rosen and Abbie Leibowitz, MD, the resource provides information and tips about both health insurance and general medical services, and also translates legal medical jargon and fine print into understandable terms. Allergy information resource
Omnigraphics’ Health Reference Series in November published “Allergies Sourcebook, Fourth Edition.” The resource provides information about identifying triggers, preventing symptoms and diagnosing and treating allergies. It also details the biological processes in the development of allergic reactions and disorders, along with the genetic and environmental interactions that lead to them. Health and fitness guidebook for older women

Health services mapping tool
The Robert Graham Center in August launched the UDS Mapper. The uniform data system tool, online at www.udsmapper.org, identifies areas served by community health centers and specific areas where patients struggle to gain access to health services.
