New Mexico Public Health Association members in June awarded Sen. Tom Udall, D-N.M., a Public Health Champion Award for his support of APHA’s annual National Public Health Week. Udall, with Rep. Lucille Roybal-Allard, D-Calif., introduced resolutions in Congress this spring recognizing the importance of the week in April, during which events were held to promote better health and well-being. Affiliate leaders said Udall has championed rural and border health, access to health care and recognition of National Public Health Week.
