Alcohol treatment
The National Institute on Alcohol Abuse in October released an online resource to help people find alcohol treatment. The Treatment and Addiction Navigator uses the step-by-step process that NIAAA staff use to help people find proper treatment. For more information, visit www.niaaa.nih.gov.
Pregnancy
The Indiana State Department of Health in December released an app to help users learn about pregnancy and prenatal care. Bariatric surgery
Penn Medicine in December released an app to help patients undergoing bariatric surgery in the health system’s bariatric surgery program. Penn Life Gained allows users to interact with their care team and help them follow their progress before and after surgery. For more information, visit www.pennmedicine.org.
Social determinants of health
The American Academy of Family Physicians in January released a toolkit to help physicians screen patients based on social determinants of health. The toolkit from AAFP’s EveryONE Project includes screening questions and tools and resources to help family physicians make decisions about patients’ health based on social determinants of health. Overcoming adversity
