Oxford University Press in April published “Ethics in Palliative Care: A Complete Guide.” Written by Robert Macauley, MD, FAAP, FAAHPM, the book discusses the legal, historical, clinical and ethical interpretations surrounding palliative care. For more information, visit www.oup.com.

Suicide prevention

The U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs in April released a new series, “From Science to Practice.” The literature reviews have information on risk factors, protective factors and other topics for clinicians involved in suicide prevention among veterans. For more information, visit www.va.gov.

Health equity

ChangeLab Solutions in April released “A Blueprint for Changemakers: Achieving Health Equity Through Law & Policy.” The resource has legal strategies and best practices for policymakers and practitioners to improve health in communities. For more information, visit www.changelabsolutions.org.

Autoimmune diseases

Elsevier in February published “Mosaic of Autoimmunity: The Novel Factors of Autoimmune Diseases.” Edited by Carlo Perricone, MD, PhD, and Yehuda Shoenfeld, MD, FRCP, the book explores the relationship between environmental factors and autoimmune diseases. Zoonotic diseases

The World Health Organization, U.N. Food and Agriculture Organization and the World Organization for Animal Health in March launched “Taking a Multisectoral, One-Health Approach: A Tripartite Guide to Addressing Zoonotic Diseases in Countries.” The guide has best practices, principles and options for countries to address zoonotic diseases. Racial segregation

Columbia University Press in May published “Threatening Property: Race, Class, and Campaigns to Legislate Jim Crow Neighborhoods.” Written by Elizabeth Herbin-Triant, PhD, the book investigates campaigns for residential segregation laws in North Carolina in the early 1900s. Climate change

Elsevier in February published “Global Perspectives on Childhood Obesity: Current Status, Consequences and Prevention, Second Edition.” Edited by Debasis Bagchi, PhD, MACN, CNS, MAICHE, the book examines the causes of the childhood obesity epidemic and outlines prevention strategies that providers, policymakers and communities can use.
