Alcoholism

Alcoholics Anonymous in May published “Our Great Responsibility: A selection of Bill W.’s General Service Conference Talks, 1951-1970.” The book contains 16 talks given by AA co-founder Bill Wilson, archival photos and other previously unpublished material from the AA archives. Asthma

The Association of Schools & Programs of Public Health published in April the infographic series “It’s Asthma” by DeAndra Morris. The health education resource provides information on indoor environmental asthma triggers to children and young adults. For more information, visit www.aspph.org.

Behavioral therapy

The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston in April released a program that offers access to tools that help users manage their mental health problems. The program is available as an app on mobile devices or through an internet browser. For more information, visit https://uthealth.ontobetterhealth.com.

Child rearing

The Mayo Clinic in April published “Mayo Clinic Guide to Raising a Healthy Child” The book cites Mayo Clinic pediatric experts and is meant to be a guide for parents. For more information, visit www.mayoclinic.org.

Genetic testing

The Personalized Medicine Coalition in April published “A Consumer Guide to Genetic Health Testing.” The guide offers information to consumers about direct-to-consumer home genetic tests. The resource is available online for free. For more information, visit www.personalizedmedicinecoalition.org.

Maternal death

The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists in May released comprehensive guidance on pregnancy and heart disease. The practice bulletin is published in the May edition of Obstetrics & Gynecology and is available online. For more information, visit www.acog.org.

Outbreaks

The National Academics of Science, Engineering and Medicine in May published “Exploring Lessons Learned from a Century of Outbreaks: Readiness for 2030: Proceedings of a Workshop.” The publication features presentations and discussions from the November 2018 Forum on Microbial Threats.
