Abortion
In February, University of California Press published an updated edition of “When Abortion Was a Crime: Women, Medicine and Law in the United States, 1867-1973” by Leslie Reagan, PhD, MA. Puberty
The American Academy of Pediatrics published “You-ology: A Puberty Guide for Every Body,” by Trish Hutchison, MD, FAAP; Kathryn Lowe, MD, FAAP; and Melisa Holmes, MD, FACOG, in April. Health leadership
In March, Women in Global Health released “Women and Global Health Leadership: Power and Transformation,” published by Springer Press. The book shares stories and pathways for women in health leadership, addressing the fact that although the workforce is overwhelmingly female, most health leaders are male. Pediatric vaccinations
The American Academy of Pediatrics debuted a new series of videos that share facts on pediatric vaccinations in February. The series, “Fact Check: FAQs on Kids’ Vaccines” covers topics ranging from vaccination side effects to teen vaccination needs. The videos feature licensed pediatricians. Family practice
In March, Johns Hopkins University Press published “Searching for the Family Doctor: Primary Care on the Brink,” by Timothy Hoff, PhD. Johns Hopkins University Press published “Ethically Challenged: Private Equity Storms U.S. Health Care,” by Lehigh University professor Laura Katz Olson, PhD, in March. The book examines the ethical fallout of private equity firms purchasing health care service providers, including dental offices, nursing home facilities and emergency medical transportation. Homelessness
