Healthy men website
The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality in August launched Healthy Men, a website designed to equip men with information about the importance of disease prevention. The site includes the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force’s recommended screening tests, tips for talking with doctors, a 10-question preventive health quiz and other tools. Bone health site
The National Institutes of Health in August launched a website featuring science-based information on bone health and bone disease. Visitors to the site — available through the National Institutes of Health’s Osteoporosis and Related Bone Diseases National Resource Center — can learn about strategies for improving bone health as well as learn more about bone diseases. School nurse resource manual
School Health Alert in August published “School Nurse Resource Manual: A Guide to Practice.” The book includes 89 conditions that could be encountered throughout the school year and tells how to address each one, along with other information on communicating with school administrators and local health care providers. Hurricane planning tool
The U.S. Census Bureau partnered with the National Weather Service in July to launch “On the Map for Emergency Management: Hurricanes.” The new tool provides real-time information about hurricanes threatening to strike the United States. Epilepsy and women campaign
Epilepsy Advocate and Healthy Women in July collaborated to launch Women Succeeding with Epilepsy, a new campaign with a goal of educating women and families whose lives are affected by epilepsy. The campaign informs women about when to see a specialist, how to help a child achieve independence and transition into adulthood and how to manage family life when living with epilepsy. Cancer sourcebook for women
