Workplace health

The Brown School at the University of Washington in St. Louis in March launched “Building a Healthier Workplace.” Created by APHA member and associate professor Amy Eyler, PhD, MS, the toolkit aims to help architects, planners, researchers and decisionmakers plan and create healthier workplaces. Human rights

Oxford University Press in April published “Human Rights in Global Health: Rights-Based Governance for a Globalizing World.” Authored by Lawrence Gostin, JD, and APHA member, Benjamin Mason Meier, PhD, JD, LLM, the book explores the relationships among human rights, global governance and public health. Built environment

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in April launched “Be Active: Connecting Routes + Destinations” to address built environment and physical activity in communities. The online package includes a resource guide, a visual guide and real-life examples of how different urban and rural locations have implemented the guidelines. Police shootings

Magination Press in May published “Something Happened in Our Town.” Authored by Marianne Celano, PhD, ABPP; Marietta Collins, PhD; and Ann Hazzard, PhD; the book helps children deal with police shootings of people in their communities. Caregiving

Fairview Press in March published the second edition of “The Gifts of Caregiving: Stories of Hardship, Hope and Healing.” Authored by Connie Goldman, MA, MA, former host of NPR’s “All Things Considered,” the book highlights challenges faced by people who are caregivers for their loved ones. Global air pollution

Academic Press in January published “The Role of Global Air Pollution in Aging and Disease: Reading Smoke Signals.” Authored by Caleb Finch, PhD, the book explores the human aging process in connection to environmental pollution research. Environmental health

Clinical orientation
